A new Illinois law taking effect in 2026 is designed to help save lives during emergency situations by improving how 911 calls are handled.
Under Senate Bill 1295, medical dispatchers will be required to receive CPR training so they can better walk callers through lifesaving steps over the phone while first responders are on the way.
The goal is to give callers clearer guidance when every second counts and improve survival rates before emergency crews get on scene.
