Story by Parker Cassidy

The West Central Basketball squad is in its third season under storied Head Coach Doug Dennison. The Heat are coming off a 6-24 season in their second year under Coach Dennison, but he believes things are starting to trend in the right direction. West Central has opened the season at 2-3 with wins over Lewiston and ROWVA/Williamsfield. Not only are the Heat vastly improving, but they are also an uber young team with six freshmen playing meaningful minutes. Dennison also shared that his squad has been working with a sports psychologist from WIU.

West Central hits the hardwood again on Monday with a road trip to West Prairie, followed by their home opener with the Bushnell Prairie City Spartans on Thursday. Then the Heat will turn their attention to the United Holiday Tournament with their first game set for next Saturday.
