The City of Monmouth has agreed to a new contract for yard waste collection that will be provided at the same cost to residents now and picked up during garbage routes, explains Mayor Rod Davies:

“Our contract with our current service provider has expired, they have serviced the community for a number of years and provided excellent outstanding service. They were facing significant cost increases, and it was going to lead us to have to increase our monthly fee to our citizens on their utility bills. We did go out to see if there were any other options. We did contact two other service providers, and we will be able to maintain our current service, which is a pickup on the days of the garbage routes and there will be no increase in costs to our residents,” says Mayor Davies.

“The low bidder was our current garbage collection service LRS. They have a separate person that strictly handles this and they have contracts in three communities, so they will begin their day in Monmouth,” Mayor Davies adds.

Additionally, the Monmouth City Council approved an ordinance to establish a new TIF District on the east side of town, which is the potential location of new market-rate housing on a nine-acre tract of land.
