During the winter months, the furnace in your home becomes one of the hardest-working systems and taking the time to ensure it is running properly can save you from cold nights and costly repairs. IHC Heating and Cooling Owner Justin McKeown offers these tips:

“The number one thing is to always change your filters. If you are using stand alone humidifiers that you put water in, make sure it is distilled, otherwise you will get a white powder that plugs the filters. If you hear noises of any kind, give us a call ahead of time because if we catch it early, we can fix it sooner with a lot less damage to the equipment,” reports McKeown.

“If you wake up and the furnace is blowing cold air, which generally tells us that there has been some type of malfunction. You can try resetting it and if it restarts that is great but still give us a call. That gets us there sooner and then we can clean the part, replace the part, and just mainly get it going for you,” McKeown adds.

IHC Heating and Cooling has been serving Monmouth and the surrounding communities for 50 years.
