MTC Communications continues to expand and bring hi-speed fiber internet to rural communities through funding with their USDA ReConnect Grant. Communications Director Rachel Kerns shares those expanded areas:
“Our builds in this coming spring, which we have actually been able to kick start a couple of them because of the weather. We started our build in Nauvoo this past fall. We were able to get as part of our ReConnect Grant, to the town of Nauvoo and build out some mainline throughout the town. We will be continuing to build out the rest of the town this spring,” says Kerns.
“As part of our ReConnect Grant, we have also got some areas up toward the Gladstone and Gulfport and surrounding rural territories. ReConnect, again, was our $18 million USDA Grant Award to build fiber throughout rural Hancock, Schuyler, Warren, and a little bit of McDonough County. We have completed one small zone, which initially starts from Colusa and going to Nauvoo,” Kerns adds.
