On 02/15/26 at approximately 11:47 PM, near US Highway 34 south of Kewanee, a Patrol Sergeant observed a vehicle traveling at an extremely high rate of speed (107 mph) and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver fled, resulting in a pursuit that ended when the vehicle crashed at the intersection of Page Street Extension and the Galva-Atkinson Blacktop. Two occupants were taken into custody. The driver was charged with multiple offenses, including DUI, criminal speeding, aggravated fleeing and eluding a police officer, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, disobeying a stop sign, and failure to signal. The passenger was released without charges. No other vehicles were involved in the incident. There were no injuries or reported property damage.

The driver was identified as 23 year old Ryan D. Hagerty. He was transported to the Henry County Jail, where he will await court proceedings.
