The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1833 Grand Avenue on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at approximately 3:55 p.m.

All three fire stations responded, with 11 personnel on duty. Upon arrival, crews encountered smoke coming from a one-story, wood-frame residence. Battalion Chief Brackett established command, and crews from the Brooks Street station advanced an initial hose line and extinguished a fire located in the kitchen.

No occupants or pets were found inside the residence, and no injuries were reported.

An emergency callback of off-duty fire personnel was initiated to maintain emergency coverage for the city. Fire Department investigators determined the fire to be unintentional. The American Red Cross responded to assist the displaced resident.
