The first two workshops are set for Jamieson Community Center’s new housing project with the Pattee Foundation, informs Executive Director Nancy Mowen:
“We have three houses in different areas of town that we are currently renovating. Not only is it helping our neighborhoods, but none of these houses were lived in at the time we purchased them, all vacant and all in need of repair. Through the Pattee Foundation, they are funding all the renovations for these houses, so that when we are done with them, they will be in move in condition. We are going to make them available for sale for first-time homebuyers. There are income limits,” says Mowen.
“We have some workshops coming up: February 17th at 6:30 pm and the other is February 20th at 10 am. The workshop is a requirement,” Mowen adds.
“Each house is going to be a little bit different, but our goal for these homes is to come up with a house payment of about $1,000 a month. Any money that we have from the sale of the house will go back into the program to help purchase the next house,” explains Mowen.
Workshops will continue to be held monthly as this project progresses. For more information, including income guidelines to be eligible in purchasing a home, visit jamiesoncommunitycenter.org.
