There’s just under two weeks until Primary Election Day in Illinois. Seeking the Republican Party nomination on the ballot for Illinois’ 17th Congressional District are Candidates Dillan Vancil and Julie Bickelhaupt. Candidate Dillan Vancil lays out his top views on running for Congress:

“The biggest thing I have been focused on is affordability. We have to get some things under control here with that. Also, healthcare, premiums have gone through the roof. We have to get those reeled back in. Of course, education. I think we need to focus more on career-focused education and bring back an ROI, Return on Investment, to our universities for these kids. I would love to see manufacturing brought back into the 17th. Rockford in the 17th used to be a major manufacturing hub in Illinois and it has just been disseminated,” says Vancil.

Candidate Julie Bickelhaupt shares her top priorities in running for Illinois’ 17th Congressional District:

“Agriculture is definitely on the forefront of that campaign platform and would really like to make sure policy circles and encompasses next generation farms. The cost of living, that is another thing that as a farmer, but as just any everyday person going to work, coming home to a household with kids, those costs of living have gone up, and energy costs have really been through the roof. Healthcare along in that a well. Lastly, education. Many kids need different options depending on what they are doing or how they learn,” Bickelhaupt states.

The winner of the Primary Election between Vancil and Bickelhaupt on Tuesday, March 17th will face Democratic Incumbent Eric Sorensen in the General Election this November for Illinois’ 17th Congressional District.
