CASA Serving Record Number of Children, Need Volunteers

Share

CASA of West Central Illinois continues to serve abused and neglected children across Warren, Henderson, Knox, McDonough, and Fulton counties.

Executive Director Kelly Price says the need is as high as it’s ever been, with the organization currently serving a record number of children.

“We have an all time five year high of children served this year. We’re at about 190 children right now for our fiscal year, which began last July, so a lot of children. We now serve five counties, and in those five counties, there’s 410 children all together in foster care. So there’s a lot of need for new volunteers. Each volunteer typically advocates for one child or one sibling set, and they essentially be the voice for them in the courtroom.”

Price says volunteering is flexible, allowing people to choose their own schedule, and typically requires around five hours per week.
