Monmouth business owner Tina Huston is now in the next phase of completing major renovations at 113 West First Avenue which will include 9 brand new one and two bedroom apartments plus two retails spaces for rent. The project covers nearly 20,000 square feet and included an initial investment of $300,000 from Huston, which resulted in a match from the Pattee Foundation and the City of Monmouth Tiff Program for another $700,000. Huston explains where they are at in the process of the reconstruction:

“I bought the building in November of 2024, and we have started the renovations, and we’re now upstairs. We’re doing electrical and plumbing and getting moving towards some apartments. We have nine apartments up there right now, and we’re starting downstairs, getting windows and doors quoted, and hopefully going to be moving down there soon. But right now, we’re really busy upstairs.”

The First Avenue Lounge will move to the corner of the block and expand their services for their patrons with the addition of new TV’s, an entertainment area, darts and pool tables. The project is expected to be completed by early Fall.
