The Jamieson Community Center Housing Program is in full swing, as they continue to buy and renovate homes to help address the local housing shortage, giving lower-income households the opportunity to purchase move-in ready homes.
Executive Director Nancy Mowen says their first home is nearly ready to hit the market.
“We partner with the Pattee Foundation, so they’re providing all of the funding for this project. They’ve committed a million dollars. We currently have six houses that we own and that are part of this project. The first house is just about ready to go up for sale. That address is 403 South Sixth Street. I’ve had many people in the community ask me, ‘Is that one of your houses?’ because they’ve watched the progress, taking this house that was in pretty rough shape and just transforming it. It’s a beautiful home.”
Mowen also says another “Real Cost of Home Ownership” workshop is scheduled for this Tuesday, which is required to be part of the JCC Housing Program.
