Monmouth City Council has adopted the annual budget for Fiscal Year 2026-2027. According to City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher, next year’s budget includes an increase to the State and Local Motor Fuel Tax Fund:

“It is a $42.9 million budget. The two largest funds within the budget are the Water and Sewer Fund and the General Fund, which supports the police and fire departments, as well as the municipal operations that includes the street department and all the administrative staff at City Hall. We do have a significant State and Local Motor Fuel Tax Fund this year. This is of course for the funding we have received for the reconstruction of West Harlem Avenue.”

Road construction on West Harlem Avenue is anticipated to be completed by mid-summer.
