Monmouth-Roseville Titan Baseball Searching for Consistency

Share

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan baseball team has been dealing with the up-and-down weather conditions like everyone else around the state of Illinois this spring. The Titans are (2-4) overall on the season, and like everyone else, it’s been a struggle to get in any kind of rhythm at the plate.

Offensively, Monmouth-Roseville is hitting under .300 as a team after six games. The defense is what has hurt the Titans in the early going, committing 17 errors leading to 25 unearned runs for the pitching staff. Head coach

Mike Huston says there is plenty of season remaining to string some wins together but his club just needs to get some confidence in all phases of the game.

With surely better weather ahead, the Titans baseball team should be busy in the next week, starting with a trip to Bushnell-Prairie City tonight.

Monmouth-Roseville will play the second game of the week at home against Riverdale on Thursday night. The Titans led a solid Riverdale ballclub 3-1 through four innings on Monday before the Rams would explode for 11 runs in the bottom of the 5th. It was the defense that failed the Titans again, as they would commit three errors in the inning. Riverdale would go on for a 12-3 victory.

Monmouth-Roseville will makeup a game at West Hancock on Saturday, before playing at Orion on Monday and then home vs. Alleman on Tuesday.
