Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 26th, 2026:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior baseball player, Clay Casteel. Clay pitched a complete game shutout over Princeton. He went all seven innings, giving up only two hits and striking out eight Tiger batters. Clay also contributed on the offensive end last week, hitting over .300.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is freshman softball player, Natali Postin. Natali’s single in the bottom of the 7th brought home the winning run in a 6-run comeback victory over Monmouth-Roseville. She had an amazing day at the plate, going 5-for-5, with 3 rbis and an inside-the-park home run. In the very next game, Natali smashed a double, scored three runs and stole two bases in win over Peoria.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is sophomore softball player, Lilly Higgins. Lilly’s bat played a major part of six wins for West Central last week. She went 9-for-21, scored 7 runs and knocked in an amazing 14 runs. Among Lilly’s nine hits, were four home runs and a double.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is freshman softball player, Cheznie Engle. Cheznie had a hot end of the week for the Tornado offense. In the final four games, she went 7-for-14, scoring six runs and knocking in eight runs. Cheznie’s first home run of the season couldn’t have come at a better time, as her top of the 7th, 3-run shot against Knoxville put the game away.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior baseball players, Hayden Ralston and Caden Riley. Both players helped the Streaks to three wins last week. Hayden earned two saves and a victory on the mound, as well hitting an eventual game-winning home run against Geneseo. Caden threw 6.1 innings of no-hit ball in another win over Geneseo and he also had the walk-off hit in a win over Limestone.
