This weekend, The Performing Arts Academy of Galesburg will present ‘Bye Bye Birdie’ at The Orpheum Theatre. Performers Nevaeh Bickerton and Rose Leary share more details:

“Bye Bye Birdie is a classical musical that opened on Broadway in 1960. Our performances are May 1st and 2nd at 7 pm and May 3rd at 2 pm,” says Bickerton.

“Our kind of main figure is Conrad Birdie, who is actually based on Elvis. His name comes from singer star Conway Twitty,” Leary adds.

“Some well-known songs are”Put On a Happy Face”, “Telephone Hour”, “Kids!”, and “Lot of Livin’ To Do,” Bickerton informs.

The Performing Arts Academy of Galesburg students are 3rd graders through high school seniors.
