On Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 1:51 PM, the Galesburg Police Department responded to the 800 block of Peck St in reference to a train-pedestrian collision. The male pedestrian was located and found to have life threatening injuries. The pedestrian was transported to OSF St. Mary Medical Center by ambulance. The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at OSF St. Mary Medical Center. The name of the victim is not being released at this time.
The accident is under investigation by the Galesburg Police Department. The Galesburg Police Department was assisted by the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, the Galesburg Fire Department, and Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Service (GHAS).
