Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending May 3rd, 2026:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is junior girls track and field athlete, Angela Harwood. Angela had a plethora of top-five finishes at three very competitive meets. She took 3rd in the long jump and 4th in the 300 hurdles at the Mercer County Invite, along with a 3rd in the 300 hurdles and 4th in the 110 hurdles at the United Invite. Angela capped off the week with a 2nd place in the long jump event at the Sherrard Tiger Relays.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is junior baseball player, Kellen Boone. Kellen had one of the best weeks of the season around the area. In four games last week, he went 8-for-13 for a batting average of .615. Kellen showed some power, as well, leading the team in doubles with four, rbis with 13 and hit his first home run of the season.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is junior baseball player, Cooper Gibb. Cooper played a big role in a Lincoln Trail Conference West Division double header sweep over Knoxville. In the opener, he went 3-for-3 at the plate, with two rbis and a double. Cooper also earned the pitching win, tossing 5.1 innings and getting nine strikeouts along the way.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior girls track and field athlete, Lily Furrow. Lily had a spectacular night at the Metamora Mach Speed and Flight Night. In individual events, she was 2nd in the triple jump and 4th in the long jump. Lily also ran a leg on the winning 4×400 relay team.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is freshman girls track and field athlete, Kielee McCormick. Kielee was consistently the top finisher for the Tornadoes in a pair of highly competitive meets. She was 6th in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes at the United Red Storm Invite. Kielee was even better at the Mick Louck Invite in Aledo, placing 5th out of 16 total sprinters in the 200 meter dash.
