Gregory Micahl Mowen, 22, of Abingdon, Illinois, passed as the result of a fatal automobile accident, where he was a passenger, near Kirkwood, Illinois, on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

Gregory was born on December 15, 2003 in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Micah Daniel and Lanetta June (Mitchell) Mowen. Gregory graduated from Abingdon-Avon High School in 2023. Gregory recently began working at Aluminum Castings in Galesburg, with ambitions to be an entrepreneur in real estate as well as get into the Industrial trades..

Gregory is survived by his parents, Micah and Lanetta of Abingdon; his lifelong friend and “ole lady,” Kallie Roberson; a grandmother, Deana Stout of Dallas City, Illinois; three brothers, D.J. (Sierra Cisneros) Orozco of Galesburg, Dakota (Jayleigh) Mowen of Luray, Missouri, and Carlos Orozco of Galesburg; and one sister, Nichole (Calvin) Bean of Galesburg. Gregory is also survived by aunts and uncles, Byron and Cristi Mowen of Fort Madison, Iowa, Tony and Angela Cisneros of Dallas City, Illinois, and Lanny Dunn of Abingdon; his close friends, Dakota, Jax, B., and Zach; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved fur babies, Diesel and Xora. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and great-grandparents and a sister, Bryanna Orozco.

Gregory was a talented and accomplished fabricator. He loved working with his hands. He was mechanically inclined and loved to build things from metal and wood. Gregory enjoyed spending time outdoors from hobbies like camping, off-roading, and kayaking. He deeply loved his family and friends and will be remembered for being the fun and goofy guy. He loved to help others and had a selfless nature. He was happy go lucky and always made the best of every situation.

Visitation for Gregory will be 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Cremation will be accorded following visitation.
