The 10th and final Ryde for Ryder event is taking place Saturday, June 27th with registration beginning at 7 am at the Patton Block Grill and Brew Pub in Downtown Monmouth and the ride following at 8 am with three route options. Don Daily reflects back to the beginning of the fundraiser and shares details for the event:
“It is the 10th Anniversary that started out because there was a real need. We had a young man that was three years old when he passed away from childhood cancer. We started have $500 donations to the families that have experienced this at St. Jude. We now have a raffle of an electronic bike. There will be a drawing for that in early September. The bike was donated by Nick’s Cycling.” says Daily.
“We leave from the Patton Block at eight o’clock, escorted by City police. Our first stop will be Fairview Center Church; that is about seven to eight miles out from Monmouth. Then onto Berwick for the people that want to ride 25 miles. That will then go onto Camp’s Orchard. Those people will ride 50 miles,” Daily adds.
Throughout the ten years of the Ryde for Ryder fundraising event, over $30,000 has been donated to assist families at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Raffle tickets for the e-bike September drawing can be purchased at Midwest Bank in Monmouth.
