The FISH Food Pantry in Galesburg continues to see a high demand for its services across Knox County.
During last week’s Stuff the Pantry event, Interim Director Jane O’Brien shared just how many families have been coming through their doors.
“We serve families in need in the Knox County area and are looking for some much-needed assistance. I was just there this morning, and our shelves are nearly bare. Last month, we served about 700 families, and yesterday we had almost a record number come through, with 55 families. That pretty much wiped the shelves clean, and we’re waiting on our commodities delivery.”
O’Brien says some of the pantry’s biggest needs include cereal, easy-to-prepare meals, canned proteins, beans, fruits, vegetables, soup, and peanut butter. If you are interested in helping out, check out fishofgalesburg.com.
