The City of Galesburg is moving forward with plans to redesign Standish Park.
City Manager Eric Hanson says the project will update the downtown park while keeping its historic arboretum.
“We received one of the largest park grants awarded this year in the state of Illinois for the redesign and reimagining of Standish Park downtown. It’s adjacent to City Hall, the courthouse, and Knox College. It’s right at the heart of the city. We’re really excited about the potential of that project to reimagine that space, but also preserve the arboretum that’s been there for over 100 years.”
Hanson says the project will move through the design phase before construction is expected to begin in 2027.
