The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is staying busy this summer, not only responding to calls but also getting out into the community.
Sheriff Jack Harlan says building relationships, especially with younger residents, remains a big focus.
“One thing I focus on is making sure our guys stay engaged in the community. We can drive around all day long with the billboards on the side that say sheriff, but one thing I can say is they get out and actually engage, especially with the youth. The next generation is important. We need to stop, get out, and talk to them. I let my deputies play basketball with the kids. We just want to make sure that bond is strong.”
Harlan says deputies will continue taking part in community events across Knox County throughout the rest of the summer.
