The West Central Heat are gearing up for another sports season as the start of school gets closer.
West Central will have a new face leading the district this year, as Eric Lawson takes over as superintendent. Lawson joins the Heat from Eagle Ridge, a K-8 school in Silvis.
Lawson, a former standout athlete at Sherrard, says he is excited to be back around high school athletics.
“I’ve missed it. Being an elementary superintendent, I’ve missed wearing the logo on Friday nights. I picked up football officiating to get back into the fold of things, but this is going to give me a different perspective, going to Friday night football games, volleyball games, golf matches, and things like that. I’m really excited to see our student-athletes get out there, compete, and enjoy themselves.”
West Central will hold their parent coaches meeting Monday, August 3rd at 5 PM at the high school in Biggsville. For more information, check out westcentralheat.org.
