Monmouth City Council has approved the commitment of local funds for a resolution supporting an OSLAD Grant, which would bring a walking path around Citizen’s Lake, explains Operations Director Ken Helms:

“We have really been putting a lot of concentrated effort into Citizen’s Lake. One of the things is a multi-phase project that will introduce a walking path. The first phase of it is going from the Citizen’s Lake Bridge, right outside the parking lot, that will go to the west and to the north and loop back around. That will end up being about a quarter mile path that will loop around what we call the Frog Pond. There will be a lot of greenscape, stuff that highlights the native shrubbery that are of this park, we will put in solar lights, and benches,” says Helms.

“After we complete that, hopefully we will be able to run a path across the dam, toward the south, and making a big loop. We estimate that doing that will probably put it at a little over a mile for the entire walking path,” Helms adds.

Constructing this walking path around Citizen’s Lake is a $303,000 project with a local match of $151,000 from the City of Monmouth.
