According to Monmouth Fire Chief Casey Rexroat, the department has received grant funding through the Small Equipment Program from the State Fire Marshall’s Office to replace their strut stabilization system:
“Captain Osborne on our department, actually put in the grant application to the Office of the State Fire Marshall to get some funding that we desperately needed to replace our struts that we use to stabilize vehicles that have been in an accident. After an accident the car will come to rest on its’ top or on its’ side and it is very dangerous to work around that, especially with the heavy equipment, because the car can tip or roll or shift. That is dangerous for the patient inside and also dangerous for the rescuers outside. We use this jack system to stabilize the vehicle before we start doing anything to make sure it is not going to shift or roll on us. The strut system that we did have was about 20 years old.”
Chief Rexroat reports the received funding was around $17,000.
