At approximately 5:15 a.m. this morning, Seaton Fire was dispatched to the 100 block of IL-94 for a single-vehicle collision involving a semi hauling an empty livestock trailer.
The semi left the roadway, struck an electrical transformer and then collided with an outbuilding. Thankfully, the driver was able to self-extricate and was evaluated and released at the scene by Seaton Fire medical responders.
The transformer was destroyed in the collision, leaving a nearby community member without power. The outbuilding sustained minor to moderate damage.
With harvest quickly approaching, we want to remind everyone to slow down, stay alert and give yourself a little extra time on the road. Early mornings, long days, slow-moving equipment and increased truck traffic will soon become part of our daily routine.
Please drive safely and look out for one another.
