Following 27 years of service to the local community, Assistance Chief Pat Spears announces he will be retiring from the Monmouth Fire Department, according to Chief Casey Rexroat:
“Assistant Chief Pat Spears announced that he was planning to retire from the Monmouth Fire Department towards the end of October. Pat has been there when retires for 27 years. We are very happy for him to move onto another chapter in his life, but we are also very proud of his career that he has had with us and he is definitely going to be missed. He has been an Assistant Chief for a very long time and has a tremendous amount of experience. He always came to all the callbacks and wiling to help with just about anything. He is always very focused on getting the job done,” states Chief Rexroat.
“He had a lot of good experiences in his career. He used to be on a special response team with the police. He was also on a Regional Technical Response Team. He made a response down to Hurricane Gustav. Lately, he has taken on a role working with the Illinois Fire Service Institute as an instructor for them, teaching firefighters all around the area, teaching them how to better their skills to become better firefighters. Recently, he joined with the Roseville Fire Department. He is going to be moving on and very proud of all the work he has done for us,” Chief Rexroat adds.
Chief Rexroat adds two new firefighters will be joining the Monmouth Fire Department in the coming weeks, Sam Perry and Jakob Pettit.
