The Knox County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest of William L. Marshall, 47, of Galesburg, Illinois, following an investigation conducted by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division involving alleged communications of a sexual nature involving a minor.
During the course of the investigation, Detectives identified Marshall and gathered evidence related to the alleged offenses. Detectives further confirmed that Marshall was a registered sex offender. Marshall was subsequently taken into custody on September 23, 2026.

• Two Counts – Indecent Solicitation of a Child
• Unlawful Grooming
• Solicitation to Meet a Child
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Marshall was transported to the Knox County Jail, where he remains in custody pending further court proceedings.
Sheriff Jack Harlan Jr. stated:
“The safety and protection of children within our community remains a priority. Allegations involving the exploitation of children are taken seriously, and our office remains committed to conducting thorough and professional investigations. We will continue to take appropriate action when information is received indicating that a child may be at risk.”

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
