Monmouth City Council recently held a public hearing regarding the Resolution of Support for the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Response Grant Application to seek reimbursement of costs incurred by the June tornado, states City Administrator Lou Leone:
“If you recall back on June 17th, we had a tornado that came through. On June 30th, the Governor issued a proclamation, which gave the communities that were affected by the tornado an opportunity to apply for grant funds to offset the costs of any repair work that had to be done. The grant itself is valued at $250,000. The City had already spent $272,000 in order to get everything back up to par. This is not the City investing any more money, it is actually just trying to recover some of what we already spent. $196,000 of that $272,000 was spent on tree removal and then we spent money on generators and fuel to keep our infrastructure, our water and sewer plants, moving. That was $47,000.”
The Resolution of Support for the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Response application was passed by City Council.
