For the first time since 2017, the Regional Office of Education #33 held a conference-style Regional Institute Day for local educators across Henderson, Knox, Mercer, and Warren Counties. According to Melinda Dixon, Director of Professional Learning, over ninety-five percent in attendance reported an increase of professional skills:
“We were able to gather all of our educators and administrators, para’s, counselors, into one location at Galesburg Junior/Senior High School for the first time since 2017. We had over 750 educators from all four of our counties attend. It was video game themed, ‘Level Up Your Learning.’ Most of our presenters for the day were local educators. We ended up with over 86 presenters,” shares Dixon.
“We were also able to bring in some outside presenters; featured speaker Katie Kinder, folks from the Illinois State Board of Education, a professor from WIU, just a wide range of topics and experts sharing their gifts. The feedback was incredible. Over ninety-five percent of responses said that as a result of the day, their professional skill was increased,” Dixon adds.
