According to Chief Joe Switzer, two new officers have been hired to join the Monmouth Police Department, bringing the department back to full staffing.
“I did hire two new police officers, Norm Oeth of Monmouth and Joe Fitch of Galesburg were hired. They did go to academy on August 30th and they are currently at academy dong coursework. We also had a work anniversary, Officer Jon Boyer completed his first year as a police officer,” shares Chief Switzer.
“We do have 19 officers, counting myself, full-time police officers, and a public service officer who does not count towards that staffing. Then I have eight full-time dispatchers and a part-time dispatcher,” Chief Switzer adds.
During the month of August, Chief Switzer reports the Monmouth Police Department made 69 arrests, issued 133 citations, 3,587 calls came into the dispatch center, the department handled 1,513 calls, a total of 2,519 calls were dispatched out, the officers responded to 12 accidents, and worked 18 grant hours.
