The Warren County Falcons had an incredible weekend of regional competition, with athletes competing in bowling and flag football and bringing home an impressive collection of medals, personal accomplishments, and state-qualifying performances.
The weekend began Friday in Moline with Regional Ramp, Unified and 22 & Under Bowling. The Falcons sent 15 athletes to competition and returned home with 8 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 2 bronze medals.
Several athletes also earned their opportunity to advance to the State Games in December. Unified Bowling teams Kelial and Shannon and Ashanti and Julie qualified for state, along with Ramp bowlers Tamia, Mike, Willie and Danny.
Saturday brought another full day of Regional Bowling competition in Singles, Doubles and Teams. The Falcons continued their strong showing on the lanes, with 26 athletes qualifying for the State Games on December 5 in Fairview Heights. Among the weekend highlights was Logan, who rolled a new personal best of 170.
The weekend wrapped up Sunday in DeKalb with Regional Flag Football.
The Falcons’ Crests team earned bronze medals, while the Talons captured the gold medal and punched their ticket to the State Games on November 7.
One of Sunday’s standout performances came from Kelial, whose leadership on the Crests team made a lasting impression throughout the competition. The Talons also received an outstanding performance from Tamara, who recorded three pick-six interceptions and a total of six touchdowns during the day.
While the medals and state qualifications were certainly exciting, the Falcons’ weekend was about much more than the results. Athletes celebrated one another, supported their teammates and opponents, and demonstrated the sportsmanship, determination and teamwork that make the Warren County Falcons special.
It was a tremendous weekend for the Falcons, with athletes showing once again that success isn’t measured only by the scoreboard, but by personal growth, perseverance, teamwork and the joy of competition.
Congratulations to all of our Warren County Falcons athletes, coaches, volunteers and families on an unforgettable weekend!
