As the August recess gets ready to come to a close, Illinois Congressman Eric Sorensen is preparing to get back to work in DC. He says once Congress is back in DC, they will start looking at passing the Farm Bill.

“We are going to have about twelve or thirteen days to get the Farm Bill passed. I’ve been working with Chairman GT Thompson and Chairman Lucas to make sure that we are fighting for the Farm Bill. To make sure that the things that are in the Farm Bill are going to lower costs for our farm families, that we are going to have the assistance there for people to be food secure and we are going to have twelve or thirteen days. That’s a lot of work. But understanding that we are just taking the Farm Bill from 2018, and we are going to revise it and refine it so that it is better than it was.”

Sorensen adds that in this Farm Bill, he has been focusing on crop insurance and making sure farms are sustainable as they head to their next generation.
