Richard E. “Dick” Galbreath, 77, of Oneida, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

Dick was born on December 23, 1946 in Galesburg. He was the son of Edwin and Margaret (Lundeen) Galbreath. He married the love of his life, Gail Glass on April 16, 1972 at the Osco Church. Together they celebrated 52 years of marriage. Surviving Dick are his loving wife, Gail; children, Karen (Jesse) Stufflebeam of Canton, Andy (Heather) Galbreath of Galesburg, Rebecca Galbreath of Galesburg, Kyle Galbreath of Oneida and Jared Galbreath of Oneida; six grandchildren; sisters, Janet (Gene) Nelson, Jean (Ray) Harris and Judy Remer, all of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Joyce Carson and Vera Combs.

Dick was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served a tour in Vietnam. After the military, he took classes to become a carpenter. Dick owned his own garage door business and worked as a carpenter up until a few years ago. He was also president of the Galesburg Archey Club for 16 years, mowed the Oneida Cemetery for 16 years and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church since 2007. Dick taught himself to play the piano, enjoyed wood working and upholstering and later took painting lessons. Dick and Gail were foster parents for over 16 years, helping children.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 11:00 am. A visitation will be held one hour prior to memorial services. Rev Chad Torrison will officiate. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory are assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church.
