Quarter One retail sales numbers are out for 2025 from the Illinois Department of Revenue. Knox County Area Partnership President Ken Springer reports both Monmouth and Galesburg had positive growth:
“This is data that we have from Quarter One of 2025 and we are comparing it to Quarter One of 2024. Overall, pretty good numbers for Q1 of 2025; Galesburg was up 5.2 percent higher than Q1 of 2024. Categorically across the different types of retail sales, almost every category was up with the exception of general merchandise and then the automotive category. Monmouth also had a really solid Q1. Retail tax receipts came in at 7.63 percent higher and in Q1 of 2024. In Monmouth, every single category was good; the automotive was the only one that was down.”
Springer informs that across the twelve metros of Springfield, Peoria, Rockford, Champaign, Bloomington, Decatur, Moline, Normal, Galesburg, Urbana, Rock Island, and Monmouth, the average growth rate was 10.5 percent for Quarter One of 2025.
