On Friday, August 29th, Bridgeway is hosting a free Mental Health First Aid Training to provide attendees with the knowledge and skills to identify signs and symptoms, informs Vice President of Behavioral Health Services Stacy Brown:
“It is Mental Health First Aid, it is open to anyone. It is a full day of training and it is really just to recognize signs and symptoms of possible mental health or substance use issues and how to interact with people and how to help them get the help they need. We are not training people to be counselors or therapists. We are not training people to diagnose others, but we are training people to just be aware of changes in friends and family and people they interact with; then how to best guide them to get the help they need because we do find that as people get help sooner, they get better quicker and they don’t relapse into the issues they have been experiencing.”
This free event will be held at Bridgeway’s location in Galesburg at 2323 Windish Drive from 8:30 am to 4 pm with lunch provided. To register, call 309-344-2323 by Friday, August 15th.
