The Regional Office of Education #33 has been awarded a grant from the Federal Government for the Head Start program locally, explains Director of Strategic Planning and Operations Jodi Scott:
“Currently, CDI Head Start has been serving as the interim, overseeing our Head Start programs for Henderson, Warren, and Knox Counties. We were just recently notified by the Federal Government that the Regional Office of Education #33, under Regional Superintendent Kathryn Jennings, was awarded the Head Start grant,” Scott states.
“We have been doing the early childhood work with our school districts and with our communities for many, many years and this seems to be that final touch to help make transitions seamless for families. When they come to screenings, when they come to enroll, they can come to one stop; whether it is a Head Start classroom or a preschool for all classroom, we work closely with childcare centers, so working together just to make things better for families,” adds Scott.
Enrollment is taking place for the Early Head Start home visit birth to three program, as well as the preschool side for children ages three to five. The Regional Office of Education #33 officially takes over the Head Start program on October 1st.
