We’ll have a pair of high school baseball sectional semifinals on Wednesday on the PCSN. Our first stop will take us to Camp Point Central High School for a class 1A match up between the United Red Storm and Brown County Hornets. The Red Storm are currently on a 13-game winning streak and are (29-5-2) overall. One more win for United and they will tie their single-season record set last season when the Red Storm ended the year (30-5). United ran through their regional tournament with wins over BPC 14-0 and Princeville 5-0. Brown County is (20-6-2). The Hornets finished 2nd in the Class 1A state finals in 2022. Brown County knocked off Winchester/Bluffs 12-2 and Camp Point Central 11-3 in their regional tournament last week. These two have a little history, with this year’s United senior class beating Brown County 6-0 in an 8th grade sectional championship in 2021. Our AM 1330/FM 95.7 WRAM pregame show will hit the air at 1:45, with the first pitch being thrown at 2:00.
The second semifinal in Camp Point tonight has (19-8) Abingdon-Avon and (21-12) Jacksonville Routt matching up. That game will start a half hour after the United/Brown County game.
Our second broadcast on the PCSN on Wednesday will originate from IVC High School in Chillicothe. The Cinderella Monmouth-Roseville Titans will take on the Illini West Chargers in a class 2A sectional title game. At one point in the season, the Titans were (4-10). Since then, they are (12-5) to get their overall record to (16-15). The Titans took a 6-seed into their regional tournament at Princeton High School where they proceeded to beat 3rd seeded Spring Valley Hall 5-4 and 2nd seeded Alleman 4-2. Illini West has had a great season as well, taking a (27-7) record into the match up against the Titans. top-seed Illini West beat Canton 7-5 and Macomb 7-2 at the Eureka Regional last week. These two teams were scheduled to meet in the regular season but had their game rained out twice. Titan head coach Mike Huston says it’s going to be a game between teams with very similar stats.
You can hear this game on AM 1330/FM 957. WRAM with the pregame show at around 6:15. First pitch is set for 6:30. It will be the second semifinal in Chillicothe, so the start time is approximate. The first semifinal has (29-7) Rockridge and (30-5) Brimfield/Elwmood meeting at 4:00. The sectional championship game will be on Saturday at IVC High School in Chillicothe.
