The City of Galesburg is being awarded a two-million-dollar state grant to update and improve Standish Park.  The project aims to preserve and enhance the arboretum, while investing in amenities and infrastructure.  The park and arboretum were founded in 1873.  It is named in honor of longtime Galesburg resident, Lombard College professor, and Knox College benefactor John Van Ness Standish.
