Mike Halpin was re-elected as Illinois State Senator in the 36th district in Tuesday general election. With 60 percent of the vote totals last night, the Democratic Halpin defeated Brad Beekman.

Halpin was first elected to the senate seat in 2022 after serving as a State Representative in the 72nd District for 3 terms. The 36th Senate district includes most of Rock Island County and parts of Mercer, Henry, Knox, Warren and McDonough County.

The other senate district that covers our area is the 47th District in which State Senator Neil Anderson ran unopposed.
