Golf Teams Begin Spring Season at IW Tiger Classic

After a couple weather postponements, the Monmouth College golf teams finally got on the course Tuesday to start their spring seasons. Both the men’s and women’s teams competed in the Iowa Wesleyan Tiger Classic at Sheaffer Memorial in Fort Madison, Iowa.

The men finished in eighth place out of 11 teams with a team score of 322. The women finished in sixth place out of six teams with a score of 450.

Noah Shields (Rantoul, Illinois) led the men with a +6 round of 78, tying for 22nd place. Ryan Prusak (Oswego, Illinois) and Ganon Greenman (Alpha, Illinois) tied for 30th place with a +8 80. Briggs Bossert (Evanston, Illinois) tied for 53rd with a +12 84 to round out the team score. Playing as individuals, Grant Foster (Galesburg, Illinois) shot a +20 92, Thomas Henson (Geneseo, Illinois) shot a +22 94 and Nick Maresco (Highland Park, Illinois) had a +32 104.

On the women’s side, Sarah Saddoris (Port Byron, Illinois) finished in 16th place with a +24 round of 96. Amanda Stevens (Mason City, Illinois) placed 27th with a +33 105 and Annalyn Lovell (Oneida, Illinois) shot a +39 111. Newcomer Isabel McDermott (Evanston, Illinois) finished in 33rd place with a +66 round of 138.

Both Monmouth teams in action this weekend as they host the Fighting Scot Invite at Gibson Woods. Saturday’s round starts at 1 p.m. and Sunday’s round begins at 8 a.m.
