Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending May 14, 2023:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior boys track and field athlete, Jerome Jackson. Jerome claimed three first place medals at the Three Rivers Conference Championship Meet in Princeton. He crossed the finish line ahead of everyone in the 100 meter dash and jumped farther than anyone in the long jump. Jerome also ran a leg on the 4×200 meter relay team that placed first and in the process, set a Three Rivers Conference record.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is girls track and field athletes, junior Reece Bertelsen and sophomore Katie Flynn. Reece And Katie were a part of three winning relay teams at the Class 1A sectional meet at Deer Creek-Mackinaw High School. In addition to qualifying for the state finals in each of those events, they each will participate in individuals events, as well. Reece placed 2nd in the 200 meter dash and Katie finished 2nd in the 400 meter dash, with both going to the state finals in those races.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is sophomore softball player, Addie Seitz. Addie had a great week at the plate and in the pitching circle. She batted .389 in seven games, going 7-for-18 at the plate. Addie tossed a 6-inning no-hitter against United, going (3-1) for the week, with 30 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is junior girls track and field athlete, Carley Anderson. With her great performance at the Class 2A Sectional Meet on her home turf of Galesburg High School, Carley will throw the shot put at the IHSA state finals in Charleston. She posted a toss of just over 36.5 feet placed her 4th in a loaded sectional field. Earlier this season, Carley placed 3rd at the Western Big Six Championship Meet.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is junior softball player, Gabe Bryan. Gabe was 4-for-6 with 3 rbis and two doubles at the plate in wins over Princeville and Farmington. She was lights out in the pitching circle, also. Gabe threw 16 innings in three games, only giving up a total of 8 hits with 30 strikeouts.
