Mr. John Gary Budd, age 88, of Galesburg, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday June 17, 2023 at 9:15 AM.

John was born to Owen W. and Ruth (Haverfield) Budd on February 11, 1935 in Galesburg Illinois. John married Betty L. Armstrong Bogener on December 20, 1974, and she precedes him in death.

John is survived by his step sons George (Ronadene) Bogener, James (Pam) Bogener, his step daughter Janet (Moore Bergman) Bogener, and a host of grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Betty, and his step sons Thomas Bogener and Virgil Bogener.

John was born and raised in Galesburg, graduating from Galesburg High School in 1953 before going on to further his education at the University of Colorado. However, John was better known for owning and operating his own fence company called: Gary Budd Fence Service. John’s hands never stayed idle for too long as he could be found tending to the various animals he kept, as well as fixing and tinkering with things around his home in his free time.

Cremation has been accorded, no services are currently being held at this time. Memorials may be left to Guardian Angels Animal Shelter in Galesburg. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.h-p-w.com.
