Monmouth City Council Seeking Input from Local Residents on Urban Hen Ordinance Ahead of Next Meeting

Ahead of the next Monmouth City Council meeting on August 7th, members are still seeking input from local residents on the draft ordinance regarding the allowance of urban hens within city limits, informs Mayor Rod Davies:

“We have received some feedback. I have received some personally. I got an email from a local realtor that expressed concern about this negatively impacting the property values of the properties adjacent to the places that have the livestock hens. Also, concerns about predators being in the neighborhood. The concerns were not responsible ownership, but irresponsible ownership if folks aren’t mowing the yard and keeping it picked up and generally taking care of their property; their concerns were maybe there would be the same lack of treatment for the hens, which could cause concerns or problems for them.”

Monmouth’s City Hall can be reached at 309-734-2141 or visit cityofmonmouth.com to send an email to a staff member.
