Warren County Sheriff Edwards Advises Seeking Out a Reputable Contractor to Complete Home Projects

Share

While it is not unusual for contractors to come into an area with leftover materials and offer to complete a project, Warren County Sheriff Martin Edwards advises seeking out a reputable local contractor yourself:

“Home improvement scams and the blacktop resurfacing scams, it is not unusual that somebody will come into the area with a crew and show up and it ends up being extremely substandard work. First of all, if you want to get work done, seek out the contractor versus somebody that comes in that you have never heard of and tries to tell you they have a great deal for you because normally it is not a great deal. A reputable contractor will give you a written estimate versus ones that will show up and take a handshake agreement and do shotty work for exorbitant amounts of money. We don’t want that to happen, but it does.”

If an individual shows up at your home that starts to make you feel uncomfortable or won’t leave, Sheriff Edwards says to call the Sheriff’s Department and report the incident.
