Story by Kadin Rogers

The Abingdon-Avon High School football team held their home opener on Friday night against the Rebels of South Fulton. A-Town and South Fulton locked themselves in a defensive battle throughout the match, but it would be South Fulton ultimately coming away with the 13-0 victory. The loss for the Tornadoes drops them to 0-2 both on the season and in Lincolnland conference play. Speaking on the WRAM morning show this morning, Abingdon-Avon Head Coach Rick Quinn says that despite the loss, the Tornadoes showed a lot of positives on Friday night, including their defensive performance, and the way they were able to move the ball down the field on numerous drives.

A-Town’s next contest will be with a different Rebels squad on Friday night. The Tornadoes will travel to Toulon to face off with 2-0 Stark County. For the full interview with Coach Quinn, visit the Sports Podcast section.
