OSF HealthCare Expansion of Oncology Treatments Creates Less Travel Time for Patients

Share

The 180,000 square foot OSF HealthCare Cancer Institute in Peoria is expected to be operational in January of 2024, bringing next level medical and research capabilities in downstate Illinois. OSF St. Mary and Holy Family President and CEO Lisa DeKezel shares the advantages this will provide for patients:

“Less travel time for patients who are going through this journey, who are not feeling well, maybe have transportation issues; to be able to provide those radiation oncology services, which sometimes require four to five treatments a week. To be able to have that provided at a high quality, very progressive equipment, right here locally in their community and their region, is a game changer.”

In addition to the construction of the cancer institute, linear accelerator radiation oncology services will be available to patients at the OSF HealthCare St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg beginning in December.
