Frances E. Schweitzer-Erickson, age 76, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 2:07 PM on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois. She was born April 3, 1947 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Robert L. and Eleanor (Jung) Schweitzer. She raised and educated in the Monmouth area, graduating from Warren High School with the Class of 1965. On October 7, 1972, Frances married Danny L. Erickson at Sugar Tree Grove Church. They later divorced. 

Fran started working in the office of the Gambles Warehouse. She then worked in the office of Martha Brown, Ltd, and later worked 14 years as a secretary at Warren Elementary School. Lastly, Fran worked as an Area Manager for R.G.I.S. Inventory Specialist until she retired in 2009. She was a longtime member of the Fairview Center United Methodist Church and was a member of The Mary Circle. Fran enjoyed counted cross stitching, making cards, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. 

Frances is survived by two sons, Matthew Erickson of Galesburg, Illinois and Mark Erickson of Monmouth, Illinois, two brothers, Keith (Valerie) Schweitzer of Bourbonnais, Illinois and Ken (Debbie) Schweitzer of Lincoln, Illinois, three nieces, one nephew, six grand nephews, one grand niece, cousins, and many great friends. She is preceded in death by her grandparents; Harry and Ruth Schweitzer and Walter and Ella Jung, and her parents, Robert and Eleanor Schweitzer.

As were Fran’s wishes, cremation is being accorded. A memorial service is planned for 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Sugar Tree Grove Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for Fairview Center United Methodist Church.
