Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending Feb. 18, 2024:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior boys basketball player, Ayden Almaguer. Ayden poured in 15 points in a TRAC West Division win over Erie-Prophetstown in the final regular season home game. He also filled up the stat sheet with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and a blocked shot. The game before, Ayden nearly pulled off a double with 8 points and 8 rebounds against Orion.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior boys basketball player, Derrick Sargeant. Derrick saved his best game for senior night. On his home floor for the final time, he posted a career-high 29 points. Derrick made five shots from beyond the 3-point arc, garnered a pair of steals and went 6-for-7 from the free throw line to help seal a Lincoln Trail Conference win over ROWVA/Williamsfield.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is junior boys basketball player, Antonio Martinez. Antonio broke out against the Ridgewood Spartans. He filled up the stat sheet, nearly posting a double-double, scoring 10 points with 6 rebounds. Antonio also handed out 3 assists and had 3 steals on the defensive end.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior girls basketball player, Kiarra Kilgore. Kiarra ended her high school basketball career on her home floor in the class 3A regional. She scored a career-high 37 points, including 17 in the 2nd quarter, in semifinal win over Richwoods. Kiarra also posted a double-double with 10 rebounds and nearly garnered a triple-double with 8 steals. She ended her career as the all-time leading scorer in Galesburg girls basketball history.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior boys basketball player, Drew Foutch. Drew contributed heavily to three wins for his team last week. He scored the 3rd most points and 2nd most rebounds in those three games for the Tornadoes. Drew is never scared of doing the gritty work that it takes to get victories, either, drawing a team-high three charges.
